Dan Salas

Varsity Head Coach

The 2021-22 season is Salas's 17th season as Head Coach at Corona del Sol High School. Under the direction of Coach Salas, the Aztecs boast a record of 202-107-12. Season highlights include a semi-final finish in 2008 and undefeated Central Region Champions in 2009 & 2010. The 2009-2010 season was capped off with a 24-2-1 record and an Arizona 5A-1 State Championship. The 2016 Season was highlighted with a Western Lotto Sport Showcase Tournament Championship, in San Clemente, CA.

In 2012 and 2015, Coach Salas was named AIA Division I, Section II, Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching soccer at CDS, Salas teaches Physical and Special Education. Coach Salas was born and raised just outside of Chicago, IL and attended Northern Illinois University. While at Northern Illinois, Salas competed for the men's soccer team from 1994-1997, captaining the Huskies his senior year. Salas majored in Physical & Health Education and Sports Medicine. In 2006, Coach Salas received his Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. Salas and wife Niki are the proud parents of three children.

 

Brent Havins

JV Head Coach

Coach Havins has been with the Aztec Men's Soccer program since 2007.  He enjoys seeing young men progress athletically, academically, and as people. He has also coached football and taught at Corona del Sol since 2005.  Coach Havins is from Ajo, Az and graduated with a Bachelors degree from Arizona State University and a Masters degree from Northern Arizona University.  He is most appreciative of his wife Tori and daughter Lexi who support him in coaching.

Dan Van Vleet

Assistant Coach

Dan Van Vleet played with the Corona del Sol program from 2007-2010 and was a member of the state championship winning team in 2010.  During his senior season, he recorded 12 goals and six assists and was named to the Central Region and All-tribune first teams as well as the Arizona Republic second team.  He went on to play 4 years in the pac-12 at Oregon State and graduated in June 2014 with a bachelors in pre-physical therapy and a Spanish minor.

Thomas Bieksha

Assistant Coach

Thomas Bieksha has been with Corona Del Sol Men's Soccer program for four years, working mostly with the FR/SO teams. Originally a tennis pro from Southern California, he moved to Arizona to pursue his Bachelors at Arizona State University, before starting at Corona in 2016. He has been here ever since and recently completed his Masters degree from Grand Canyon University. He shares he is incredibly fortunate to have the support of his wife, Tien and their 3 dogs in his coaching endeavors.
